  • This application is only valid for applicants to Earth Sciences, Education, Engineering, Humanities & Sciences, and Medicine-PhD. Applicants to Business, Law, Medicine-MD should apply for fee waivers directly through the respective School.
  • You must have the appropriate documents for upload (as listed below) at the time that a fee waiver application is submitted.

Waiver Descriptions

 

1. GRE Fee Reduction Certificate Program Waiver (APPLY)

  • ETS offers a limited number of GRE Fee Reduction Certificate that are available for college seniors and unenrolled college graduates who meet eligibility requirements.

  • Applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. who upload a copy of their completed GRE Fee Reduction Certificate (obtained from their current school's financial aid office and valid for the current academic year) may request a fee waiver (PDF format).

  • If the waiver is not signed and affixed with a school stamp or seal, the waiver will not be granted.

  • If the application fee waiver is approved then the applicant will be sent a code to enter in the payment section of the online application.

  • The application fee is not waived for international students.

  • Request should be received at least THREE weeks (15 business days) prior to the program application deadline.

  • No refund will be given if you apply for a fee waiver and pay the application fee instead of using your application fee waiver code.  If we deny your request for a waiver, we will instruct you to pay the fee.

  • Graduate Admissions will contact you via email regarding the status of your waiver request.

2. Diversity Program Participation Based Waivers (APPLY)

Fee Waiver Verification Form
  • Applicants who are participants in good standing in the following programs are eligible for a waiver of the application fee. Applicants who were participants in good standing at the time of their graduation are also eligible.

  • The applicant must complete the Stanford Fee Waiver Verification Form, have it signed by the appropriate program director verifying their status, and upload the form (PDF) with their fee waiver application.  No other documentation will be will be accepted.

  • Request should be received at least THREE weeks (15 business days) prior to the program application deadline.

  • If the application fee waiver is approved then the applicant will be sent a code to enter in the payment section of the online application.

  • No refund will be given if you apply for a fee waiver and pay the application fee instead of using your application fee waiver code.  If we deny your request for a waiver, we will instruct you to pay the fee.

  • Graduate Admissions will contact you via email regarding the status of your waiver request.

Applicants who are part of a group that the NIH considers to be in need of a special recruitment and retention plan in order to diversify the biomedical sciences workforce (http://grants.nih.gov/training/faq_diversity.htm#a3) are invited to apply.
