The History of Political Thought Workshop -- part of the Stanford Humanities Center's Geballe Resesarch Workshops -- is a new interdisciplinary working group that brings together scholars across multiple departments who share an interest in the history of political thought. Taking an expansive and global view of political thought and its core problems, this workshop provides an opportunity for faculty and graduate students to examine similar topics from different methodological perspectives. We hope to create a venue for constructive engagement across these differences, bringing together scholars working on familiar topics with those working on new ones, and scholars using established methodologies with those using less conventional ones. We are especially interested in facilitating exchange between those breaking new ground in the digital humanities and those invested in more traditional textual interpretation.

The workshop will meet three times a quarter, typically on Thursdays during lunch, focusing on a chosen presenter's work. Each quarter will feature presentations from one distinguished guest from outside the university, one Stanford faculty member, and one Stanford graduate student. All who are interested are welcome.
