Industrial Affiliates Programs
Industrial Affiliates Programs are designed to facilitate the dialogue between academia and industry and the transfer of knowledge to the public. Supported by fees from corporate members, these programs provide a route for industry to contribute to and sustain research and teaching in Stanford programs of interest. Members typically attend annual meetings, receive copies of reports and publications, and have opportunities to recruit students. Any interested company may join an Affiliates Program.
The Industrial Contracts Office reviews and signs Industrial Affiliates agreements for programs that use member agreements. ICO also coordinates an annual review of all Affiliates Programs. The Industrial Affiliates Program website provides more information about programs and policies.
During FY 2015-16, 56 Affiliates Programs at Stanford brought in a total of $35.7 million.
The School of Engineering was home to 33 programs, which accounted for more than half of all affiliate programs at Stanford. Engineering programs received the most funding, with $21.2M in membership fees. With 14 programs, the School of Earth, Energy, and Environment received $7.8M.
